Our 1/350th enhanced scale model of the World War Two German Battleship Tirpitz, represents the finest in master craftsmanship. Built by Master Ship Model Builders with more than 35 years individual experience.

The second and last battleship of the Bismarck class, Tirpitz was the largest warship built in Germany. Launched in 1939 and christened by the daughter of Grand Admiral Tirpitz, Frau von Hassell.

Tirpitz had an overall length of 253.6 meters (approx. 837 feet) with a 36 meter (approx. 118 feet) beam. With a maximum speed of 30.8 knots and could travel up to 9280 nm at 16 knots with her maximum 163,026 horsepower.

Carrying a crew of 2,608, 108 officers and 2,500 men. She was heavily armed with weaponry including 8 53.3 cm torpedoes and 4 Arado ar 196 aircraft.

As the flagship of the Baltic Fleet, Adolf Hitler personally visited the Tirpitz in May of 1941. In December of that same year her anti-aircraft battery was increased and two quadruple torpedo mounts were installed on the upper deck to each side of the ship amidships.

Tirpitz was a force to be reckoned with, allied forces attacked her many times to no avail. She took her toll on destroying many allied ships and aircraft. In September of 1943, while anchored in Altenfiord, she was attacked by British midget submarines and put out of action for the first time.

A year later, attacked by 27 Lancaster from Yagodnick near Archangel, she was hit on the forecastle by a 5.4 ton Tallboy bomb. Her damage was severe and the battleship was no longer seaworthy. Tirpitz was taken to anchor off Haakoy Island to remain there as a floating battery. After continuous aerial bombings by 32 Lancaster, she was finally sunk on November 12, 1944 after being hit by two Tallboy bombs. Tirpitz takes 971 men with her as she capsizes into the ocean.

As is suiting of a ship with such national historical significance, our realistic Tirpitz and Bismarck ship models are not to be compared with the machine made import versions. We build each one by hand in the USA using only professional grade materials.

Enhanced with exterior detailing including air brushed highlights, extensive detail painting and brass embellishments. The hull is reinforced with wood. We use brass propellers, drive shafts and brass or stainless pedestals.

Our models are not like any others you've seen before.

Our experience and artistic expertise give a depth of realism that is unparalleled. Many adjustments are made to capture a more realistic model by interpreting light and shadow with paint. The result is a much more interesting model to view from both a distance and up close under magnification.

The airbrushed camouflage paint on this hull is for accurate representation of the original. She was painted this way to make her more difficult to be seen by both enemy submarines and aircraft. Notice all the intricate detail painting work on the deck, machinery and hardware.

Our decks are painted to look like teak with numerous colors to represent shadows and the natural tonal differences in wood.

Loaded with brass enhancements to create that incredible look and depth of realism. Ladders, railings, rigging lines, windows, doors, stairs, radar dishes, stern crane and much more have all been enhanced with greatly detailed brass work. The intricacy involved in this type of detail work is immense.

Included with each model is a complete custom made case.

This is an example of our standard Red Oak base finished in numerous coats of fine Danish oils, hand rubbed to beautiful low luster. Clear flame polished protective acrylic cover and wood mounted brass engraved nameplate complete the finished display.
