This is an exquisite,
one-of-a-kind, freestanding, life-size Great Blue Heron sculpture
made entirely of copper.
He is gracefully poised
with his wings fully outstretched to take flight from a dramatic
solid driftwood base filled with copper accent reeds.
Ideally suited for placement
most anywhere including inside or outdoors.

Over 2,000 individual copper feathers are all hand cut and separately brazed
into place one at a time. The skeleton is made of a hand hammered
copper armature sheathed in sheet copper to represent skin and
hold the feathers.
This is a painstaking process
that requires extensive time and attention to detail. It's a
big part of what makes this piece so incredibly unique.

are exactly the same in shape or color. |

We combine our own patina
solutions which alter the color of the copper.
Various heat concentrations
throughout the custom hand painted patina process create all
the infinite color variations within the sculpture.

Copper is the only medium
that continues to paint itself over time.
This heron's colors will
continue to evolve and change with time becoming ever deeper
and richer in color tones.

The driftwood mounting
base has been sanded smooth and sealed in numerous coats of natural
oils for a lustrous fine finish.
The legs are reinforced
with rebar and the base contains copper sleeves which secure
the reeds and heron feet for easy removal and reinsertion.
The copper reeds are all
brazed on the ends and add a wonderful additional dimension of
reality.
